Employee Spotlight: Georgi G. – From 0 to a 100

February is a wild month, right? One moment, we’re recovering from the post-holiday blues, and the next, we’re bombarded with Valentine’s Day ads reminding us to buy heart-shaped chocolates and whisper sweet nothings to our web hosting plans. I’m not saying your website deserves some love, too… but I’m also “not” not saying it! But just like a car engine revving up after a cold winter morning, this time of year is about shaking off the frost, setting new goals, and stepping on the gas toward bigger things. And speaking of drive, dedication, and knowing when to hit the brakes or floor it, this month’s spotlight is someone who’s always ready for the next challenge: Georgi G.

Georgi is one of FastComet’s freshest additions, but he is already bringing his A-game. Whether refining his skills, embracing new experiences, or simply making every moment count, he’s got a knack for making things run smoothly. And if there’s one thing we know for sure, his story is just getting started. So, buckle up, grab your favorite drink (whether it’s water like our guy here or something with a bit more caffeine), and let’s take a closer look at someone shifting into high gear at FastComet!

How are You Kicking Off 2025 at FastComet? Any Personal Rituals, Goals, or Resolutions?

Kicking off 2025? Well, so far, so good! New year, same me—just trying to get a little better at what I do every day. Work is keeping me on my toes, which I actually like because there’s always something new to learn. Nothing feels repetitive, and that’s what keeps me engaged.

I don’t have any elaborate morning rituals, but I do have a routine: grab my usual spot, pour a glass of water (hydration is key, right?), and then brace myself for whatever surprises the day has in store. It’s my little way of mentally clocking in before things get busy.

As for goals, I’m not big on setting unrealistic resolutions that disappear by February. Instead, I just want to keep getting better at what I do—learning new skills, getting faster at problem-solving, and maybe even finding ways to make tricky situations feel a little less tricky. Basically, I’m here to level up, one workday at a time.

Georgi, What Was a Standout Adventure or Personal Milestone Last Year?

Oh, 2024 was a big one for me. My wife and I took a huge step and bought a house in a village near Plovdiv—finally, a place to call our own! It wasn’t just about getting the keys, though. Turning it into our home, making it feel like us, and seeing it come together bit by bit was something really special. And let’s be real—nothing hits quite like firing up the grill in your own backyard, surrounded by good friends and the smell of barbecue in the air.

On top of that, I also started my journey at FastComet toward the end of the year. Coming from a completely different field, this has been a huge shift, but honestly, that’s what makes it exciting. I’ve always enjoyed tackling new challenges, and working here has given me the chance to do just that while learning something totally different. If anything, last year taught me that stepping outside your comfort zone—whether it’s switching careers, renovating a house, or mastering the perfect steak on the grill—is where the real growth happens.

What’s Something You’re Genuinely Passionate About Outside of FastComet?

Oh, cars. If there’s one thing that gets my engine revving (besides coffee), it’s cars. I don’t just mean casually glancing at a cool ride on the street—I mean full-on, this-is-my-lifestyle, let’s-talk-horsepower-and-aerodynamics levels of enthusiasm. Some people meditate, and I stare at engine bays. Some people unwind with a glass of wine; I take my car for a late-night drive with the windows down, music up, and not a single thought in my head—pure bliss.

Car meets? These are absolute highlights of the summer. Not only do I get to geek out over custom builds and performance mods, but I also get to meet fellow enthusiasts who understand why I’d rather spend money on car parts than, say, a new couch. And then there’s the sacred tradition of night car washes. It’s not just about cleaning the ride – it’s a complete experience. The sound of water spraying, the neon glow from the gas station lights, the deep conversations with friends that somehow always start with “just one quick wash” and end three hours later with existential debates about life.

And when I’m not behind the wheel or under the hood? You’ll probably find me in another world, literally. Video games are my go-to escape, whether I’m dominating in a racing sim, exploring vast open worlds, or just unwinding with something chill.

What Big Goals or Small Wins are You Looking Forward to Celebrating This Year, Georgi?

This year, my main goal is to keep levelling up at work and in life. Professionally, I’m on a mission to expand my skills, soak up as much knowledge as possible, and become the go-to guy for tricky cases. Of course, that means occasionally (okay, frequently) bugging my more experienced colleagues with “just one quick question,” which turns into a 20-minute deep dive. Luckily, they haven’t blocked me yet, so I must be doing something right.

On the personal side, the big project is turning our new house into the ultimate chill spot. That means DIY home improvements, making the yard barbecue-ready, and perfecting the art of grilling like a true backyard pitmaster. More BBQ nights, more friends gathered around, and hopefully, fewer “oops” moments involving burned food. And who knows, maybe this is the year I finally get that dream garage setup. (Manifesting hard on that one.) And perhaps even something else – who knows…

If You Could Share One Piece of Advice for Someone Starting in Tech, Life, or Any New Chapter, What Would it Be?

I advise anyone to look forward with courage, pursue their dreams, and find someone with whom they can build a future together in this harsh world. My motto is: No matter how hard, unpleasant, or sad things may get, you’re always answered that you’re doing better than ever because everyone expects you to struggle, and it hurts them the most when you’re doing well.

Revving Up the Finish Line

And that’s a wrap on this month’s Spotlight! We’ve taken a joyride through the life of our FastComet newcomer, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned – passion, persistence, and a well-timed car wash can make all the difference. Whether he’s diving into new skills at work, tuning up his latest project, or mastering the art of the perfect BBQ, it’s clear that Georgi knows how to keep things running at full speed. Thank you for steering us in the right direction with this edition! The new year is in full swing, and we’re looking forward to bringing you even more incredible stories from the people who make FastComet what it is.

Until next time—stay fast, stay curious, and maybe, just maybe, give your car a little extra shine this weekend.
