With Craft installed, it is time to familiarize yourself with its administrative dashboard.
To access it, you can either click the hyperlink on the “Welcome” page or go to the /web/admin/dashboard URL.
Next, you need to input your admin details. They are created during the Craft installation process. The wizard should have prompted you to create those, so don’t forget them! Once inside, you will see the dashboard.
Let’s review it and learn about each section from the navigation menu on the left!
At the top of the list is the Dashboard tab, which is the default when logging in. Each user has their own dashboard and manages it individually from the rest. On it, you will find a group of preset widgets, a drop-down to add more, and a settings menu that will let you customize them.
Firstly, there are several default widgets, which you can see in the previous screenshot, but there are a few others you can add to the Dashboard tab. Simply click on the +New Widget button in the top right.
Next, each widget can be resized and rearranged. This is easily done from the Settings button next to +New Widget.
Here is what a Dashboard can look like with all the widgets enabled. We also rearranged and resized them to give this page a more streamlined feel for ease of use.
All the fields are blank because we have no entries or pages on our website, but once you start working on those, this screen will get a lot more busy.
